The Metropolitan Branch Trail is an 8-mile trail that runs from Union Station in the District of Columbia to Silver Spring in Maryland. Following the Metropolitan Branch Line of the B&O Railroad, the trail passes through numerous vibrant and historic neighborhoods and is an important transportation route providing connections to homes, work and play.
Our vision is that the MBT will one day be an entirely off-road trail. Currently, the route includes off- and on-road segments. On-road segments are marked with bike lanes, shared-use path markings and MBT signs. As new off-road segments are built, this map will be updated.
